The Reading Habits Book Tag

Hey everyone! Welcome to the Reading Habits Book Tag. This tag was originally created by TheBookJazz. No one tagged me to do it, but I thought it looked like fun, so we’re doing it. Let’s get started!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Not really. I typically read in my bed, but sometimes I move around to other spots depending on how I’m feeling.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Random piece of paper. Or really, just anything nearby that I can stick into the book—a ribbon, a candy wrapper, a pencil. If a bookmark happens to be near me then I’ll use it but I don’t go out looking for one.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I usually prefer to stop at the end of a chapter or section.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Not usually. I’m too afraid of spilling all over the book to do that.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

Sometimes I can do music, if it either doesn’t have lyrics or has lyrics in a language I don’t understand. I definitely can’t watch TV or YouTube while reading, though. I get distracted.

One book at a time or several at once?

Well, I try to only read one book at a time, but my reading moods are kind of all over the place, so I end up starting a book, reading some, and then feeling the urge to read another book and switching to that one. I don’t know if that really counts as “reading several books at once” because I’m usually only actively reading one book at any given time, while the others rest on the backburner for a while.

Reading at home or everywhere?

If I have an ebook, I’ll read everywhere. I also like to listen to audiobooks in the car sometimes. But physical books I pretty much exclusively read at home.

Reading out loud or silently?

Silently. Unless I come across a particularly good sentence or phrase. Then I might reread it and whisper it to myself.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Haha…. Yes. I don’t skip entire pages, but sometimes during really exciting scenes, I’ll find myself skimming and skipping over bits because I’m so eager to find out what happens. It’s a bad habit that I really need to break.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I mean, I don’t intentionally break the spine of a book, but I also don’t go out of my way to make it stay safe. I love a beautiful, new book as much as the next person, but books that are well-loved have a special sort of charm to them.

Do you write in your books?

No.

It’s not because I have anything against writing in books, though. You can do whatever you want. I just find that stopping to write notes in the margins of a book takes me out of the story, and I don’t like that, so I don’t do it.

There you have it! Are any of your answers similar to mine? Let me know down below!

I don’t have anyone to tag, but if you see this post, and you want to do this tag, consider yourself tagged!

I’ll see you next time!
