Summer Vacation (Summer Biannual Bibliothon Day 6 Challenge)

Day 6 is here! How is all of your reading going? Are you meeting your goals? I wish you all the luck.

As for me, I’m writing this a little ahead of time, so I don’t really know how I’m doing at the time you’re reading this. At the moment of writing this, though, I have completed two books and gotten about 24 pages into a third. Hopefully by the time you’re reading this, I’ll be almost if not completely done with the third book and moving on to the fourth.

Anyway, you’re probably here to actually see the challenge and not listen to my babbling, so let’s just get into it. Today’s blogger challenge comes from Amanda from the blog Obsess with Amanda, and the challenge is to share what book character you would bring with you on summer vacation if you could.

This is a hard one. I love so many characters, so it’s hard to pick just one. Plus, a lot of the characters I love probably wouldn’t be much fun to take on vacation. I have a weird tendency to fall in love with more moody and depressing characters (maybe that says something about me—nah, no way), and those probably aren’t the sort of people who would be into summer vacation fun.

I think I’m going with Deryn Sharp from the Leviathan trilogy. I don’t know how much she would like me, but I’m hoping that her adventurous and outgoing personality would encourage me to try some new (and scary) things that I would never, ever have tried otherwise. Plus, she’s funny, smart, and incredibly brave. She literally dressed up as a boy and joined the British military during a time period when women were expected to be docile and stay at home.

Another option I could choose from would be the main character Emika Chen from Warcross, because she’s got some pretty awesome hacking skills, plus she’s just cool. I think that out of the two, Deryn is probably more likely to actually like me, though, so I think I’ll go with her. Maybe she can sneak me onto an airship and we can travel the world in that. That would be super cool.

That’s about all I have for the challenge today. Thanks again to Amanda for the awesome challenge. I had a lot of fun thinking about it.

And thank you, reader, for hanging out with me today. I hope to see you back here tomorrow for the day 7 challenge.
