Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon Recap

Hey guys! Welcome to another blog post where I talk about a readathon. Yesterday I participated in the Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, and it was a ton of fun. It was a fairly busy day yesterday. I had to work at both of my two jobs and also squeeze in reading, so I dedicate most of my success to the fact that audiobooks exist. Still, I think 24-Hour readathons might be the way to go for me. I certainly did better in this one than I have in most of the weeklong ones I have participated in.

In my TBR, I mentioned that of the three books I had listed, I only really expected to finish one of them—and that is exactly what happened.

I woke up at 8:30 am, an hour and a half after the readathon started in my time zone, and immediately jumped into reading Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake. I had already started reading a little the night before, so for the readathon, I started on page 47, and over the course of the next few hours, I physically read up to page 264—so 217 pages!

After that, I had to get ready for work, which I was at for almost 7 hours, so that cut a huge swatch out of my reading time. As I was driving, though, I was listening to the audiobook of Two Dark Reigns, and after that point, I exclusively listened to audiobooks for the rest of the day.

After work, I ended up going out to eat for a little while, but then I went home and ended up finishing the audiobook of Two Dark Reigns at around 2 or 3 in the morning, having read/listened to the last 400 pages of that book during the 24 hours of the readathon. The readathon wasn’t over yet, though, so I immediately jumped into listening to the audiobook of Arcanum Unbounded by Brandon Sanderson.

I listened to the second and third story in that collection before I fell asleep at around 4 or 5 in the morning. Overall, in Arcanum Unbounded, I listened to 50 pages.

I did not read any of my third book, The Girl Who Smiled Beads, but then, I really hadn’t been expecting to get to it, so I’m okay with that.

General Overview

Books Completed: 1

Pages Read: 450

Overall, I’m pretty proud of the amount of reading that I did yesterday. If I hadn’t had to go to work, or if I had woken up a little earlier and fallen asleep later, I definitely could have read more, but considering the amount of time that I had, I think reading basically an entire book and then two short stories is pretty good.

That’s all I had for this post today! Did any of you participate in the readathon yesterday? How did you do? Let me know down in the comments!

Thanks for reading!
