The Goodreads Tag

Hey guys! In a very last minute decision, I am coming to you with a book tag—the Goodreads Tag. I don’t know who created this tag (I know, bad book blogger), but I found it on the booktube wiki, and then searched Google to find the questions. So here we are. Let’s get into the question

1. What was the last book you marked as “read”?

Because You Love to Hate Me, a short story collection edited by Ameriie. No, I still haven’t finished Eon. Life is crazy, you guys

2. What are you currently reading?

This is a complicated question. If you look at my Goodreads page, you will probably notice that it says I am currently reading five books. That’s not really true. I have indeed started reading all of those books, and I intend to finish them when I can. I just haven’t bothered to take them off of the currently reading list because maybe, if they’re there, I will be shamed into actually reading them, just so I can get them off of it.

The book I’m actually currently reading is Mistborn. And sort of Eon. I know, I don’t make any sense.

3. What was the last book you marked as “TBR”?

Apparently it was The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, which I don’t own. I do want to read it someday, though.

4. What book do you plan to read next?

Well, once I finish reading one of the two books I’m currently reading, I plan to move on to the other one. After that… I think I might try to finish reading The Girl Who Smiled Beads, or start the Stephen Leeds collection by Brandon Sanderson.

5. Do you use the star rating system?

Yes. It’s the easiest to me. However, I do have a tendency to do ratings like 3.75 stars, or 4.5, or any combination like that, so I maybe don’t use it as strictly as it’s intended to be used. But there are just some books that, to me, deserve a higher rating, but not an increase of a whole star.

6. Are you doing a 2018 Reading Challenge?

Yes, I am. I’ve actually already beat it. The goal I set back in January was 30 books and so far this year I’ve read 34! Maybe I should go in and change it to a higher goal. After all, there are still 3 ½ months left in the year.

7. Do you have a wishlist?

You can have a wishlist on Goodreads? I pretty much know nothing about the site; I only started using it this year, because I was planning on starting this blog and I needed a concrete way to keep track of my reading. Without that, I know I would never be able to write coherent wrap-ups because I would never remember what I’d read.

I guess my “wishlist” is a lot of the books I have on my TBR shelf, because I actually don’t own a good amount of them…

8. What book do you plan to buy next?

I don’t really plan to buy books. I just end up buying them on occasion. I guess if you want a real answer, I do intend to buy Skyward by Brandon Sanderson at some point after it comes out, and I want to buy Wildcard by Marie Lu… but I have no immediate plans to go out and do so.

9. Do you have any favorite quotes, would you like to share a few?

I’m terrible at remembering quotes, so… no. Let’s just go with no.

10. Who are your favorite authors?

Oh, that’s easy. Brandon Sanderson (I know I’ve talked about him a lot recently, and I’m sure it’s getting annoying and repetitive, but I really love his books. Literally, every single book I’ve ever read by him has been good), Marie Lu, and Marissa Meyer. There are others that come close, but I always want to make sure that I’ve read several books by an author before I call them a “favorite.

11. Have you joined any groups?

No. As I said before, I really don’t know how this Goodreads thing works. Let me know if any of you have suggestions for groups to join, or just general advice for how to be a Goodreader. (See what I did there?)

12. Are there any questions you would like to add?

I feel like this is one of those interview situations, where they ask the dreaded “do you have any questions?” question, and you’re supposed to always say yes, no matter what. In this case, though, I don’t have any other questions, so I guess I’m not getting hired. (That was a weird analogy.)
