November 2018 Wrap-Up/New TBR/Life Update

Hey guys! This post is going to be a little different from my normal posts. I’m doing my wrap-up and TBR in the same post, since by the time this goes up, it will be two weeks since December started, and I really should have put these posts up back on the 30th and the 1st. Luckily, finals are almost over so hopefully I’ll start getting back into the swing of things here soon—for a little while, anyway. More on that in a bit.

In the month of November, I managed to read 4 books, most of which were read during the FallIntoFantasy readathon I talked about last time. They were:

Shadows of Self by Brandon Sanderson

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

Seafire by Natalie C. Parker

In terms of rating, I gave Seafire and Shadows of Self five stars, and the other two I gave four stars. Overall, it was a pretty solid reading month. I definitely didn’t read as many books as I wanted to, but considering how much I had going on this month, I’m pretty pleased with the fact that I managed to get any reading at all done.

Now let’s move on to what’s going on in December.

I really don’t know what this month is going to be like. I’m done with finals now, but Christmas is coming up, which is going to take up a lot of my attention. And although this semester of school is almost over, I still have to work over the break and start packing for next semester—because next semester is going to be a pretty big undertaking.

Before I get into the books I want to try to read during the last 2 ½ weeks of December, I need to give you all an update on a non-book-related part of my life. As some of you might know, I’m in college, majoring in French and Writing. I’m super excited to announce that I am going to be in France for the entirety of the next semester! It’s going to be a ton of fun and I’m going to be able to practice my French and make friends, so I’m stoked about all that.

Unforunately, though, while I’m in France I don’t exactly know what my whole Internet situation is going to be like, or how much time I’m going to have to write blog posts. So starting in January you all might see a lot less of me than you usually do.

I am going to try to post as often as possible—and you better believe I’m going to hit up some French bookstores and read as much as I can. I’m also planning on writing and scheduling a lot of posts (hopefully at least one for every week I’ll be done) over my Christmas break, so hopefully you will still have at least semi-regular posts from me.

Anyway, with all that in mind, I’m not anticipating being able to read all that much over the next few weeks. Of course, that doesn’t mean that I don’t have about a zillion books that I want to read, as usual. Since this TBR is going up so darn late, I haven’t yet read a single book apart from books I had to read for school, and I have so many things I need to do before I leave next month, I’m going to try to be realistic with myself. I’m only putting 3 books on this TBR, which I hope to read by the time I leave on January 9th. Hopefully I can at least manage that.

Here are the three books:

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

I’ve had this book in my possession for probably a month at this point, and I still haven’t read it. I would really like to rectify that situation before too long, because if I don’t, I probably won’t be able to read it until after I get back home in the middle of May, and that idea makes me very sad.

Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd

What better way to prepare for a third of a year in France than by reading a Paris-based fantasy, right? I’ve been wanting to read this book since I heard of its existence several months before it came out, and hopefully now is the time.

These Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch

I read the Snow Like Ashes series by this author at the beginning of this year and I liked it, so of course I wanted to give this book a try. I hope I’ll get to it.

Also, and maybe this a bad idea, but I am going to do a readathon this month. I promised myself I would participate in a readathon every month until the end of the year, and I’m sticking to that. So this month I’m going to be participating in the TBR BustAThon again, which starts on Monday. My TBR is basically just going to be the three books I listed above, so I don’t think I’m going to post a separate TBR for that readathon because it would be pretty redundant.

Anyway, those are all the books that I’m going to try to read during the end of December/beginning of January. I’m sorry I haven’t been posting recently, but now is the time. I’m going to get back into this, and schedule posts, and be super productive.

Wish me luck, and thanks for reading! I’ll see you soon.

-Ariel
